Formulation differ: Metformin is formulated differently than Glumetza which uses a special advanced polymer technology that delivers the medicine slowly and steadily over several hours. This delay in the release of the medicine may result in fewer stomach-related side effects, such as nausea, in the 1st week of taking the medication. (difference is binders).

Glumetza: Glumetza ER is a xtended release metformin and it would depend on how often you wanted to take the drug, if you have side effects from the short action and how much you want to spend on the drug.Otherwise they both reduce glucose levels. Good Luck
