What's the earliest you will see a heartbeat with a transvaginal ultrasound?

Depends: Depends on how much time the examiner is willing to spend looking. By 6.5 weeks the fetal heartbeat (fh) is fairly obvious. At 6 wks it can be very subtle and difficult to distinguish from maternal cardiac pulsations and would require measuring the rate and comparing it to the maternal rate. Not easy or quick!
