A member asked:

There is a screening for the local assisted living place to have their arteries dopplered, is this legit?

Nope: There are groups that offer mass screenings at churches, schools, etc. Supposedly, they'll ultrasound any combination of carotid artery, thyroid gland, abdomen, abdominal aorta, heel & peripheral arteries. From family doc's perspective, this is a nightmare b/c quality of studies is poor. Worse, local radiologists have no film or data to review. So we have to order a real ultrasound to prove u r ok.
