Please explain what a renal artery doppler is?

Renal artery Doppler: Doppler ultrasound uses focused sound waves to measure the velocity of blood flowing through the renal artery.If the blood flows more rapidly through the artery it suggests that there is a narrowing in the artery. The focused sound waves can also be used to locate where the artery is narrowed. Because it is an indirect measure of narrowing, it is used as a screening test only.

Ultrasound: Renal artery doppler is an ultrasound test that is used to look at the flow of blood in the renal artery (artery to the kidneys). It looks to see if there is blockage or increased pressure to flow suggesting narrowing of the artery.
