Allergic Reaction: What you have is likely allergic contact dermatitis to nickel found in many metal products such as jewelry, button fasteners, belts and even cell phone casings. Best thing is avoid nickel and see a dermatologist who can patch test you to confirm the diagnosis. There is also a simple chemical test that you can use to see if there is nickel in the metal you come in contact with (dimethylglyoxime).
