Doc suspects diabetes insipidus. symptoms are rapidly relieved by eating salt (dehydration, headaches, twitching, urine output all decrease). why?

Not DI?: Diabetes insipidus is characterized by large amounts of dilute urine usually accompanied by very high serum sodium levels. Hydration and replacement of DDAVP (desmopressin) are the treatment. Consuming salt wouldn't help and could worsen the problem.
