Good question: Well, there are a variety of reasons a fertilized egg may not implant. Can an egg still implant itself to the uterus right after a period?

Depends: Ovulation usually occurrs within 2 weeks after your period starts. An egg is released from the ovary and may or may not find its way into the fallopian tube. It usually does not implant into the uterus unless it becomes fertilized, even then, it's not a guarantee.

Does the egg usually implant on the same side of the uterus as the side you ovulated from?

Not necessarily: Most embryos implanted towards the middle back of the uterus in general. At times it's hard to predict exactly where implantation will occur though.
