Otitis Media/Externa: Yes, the pain can be referred and also exaggerated on opening and closing. The opposite is true too, you can have TMJ issues or tooth abscesses that can have referred pain into the ear making it seem as if you have an ear infection, lie with wisdom teeth.

Jaw pain: Absolutely, the temporomandibular joint is in very close proximity to the ear, and often problems in the joint can lead to ear pain.

See an ENT specialis: Of course it can. A middle ear infection puts pressure on the eardrum, causing pain in TMJ and jaw. At the same time TMJ can cause earache. See ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Yes: Yes. With resolution of the ear infection, the jaw should stop hurting. If the jaw pain persists, it is possible that you have a TMJ problem and not an ear infection. TMJ misdiagnosed as "ear infection" frequently. If jaw pain persists, see oral surgeon
