Possible hernia: Surgical incisions in the abdominal area are under significant stress. Generally it takes about 6 weeks for these incisions to fully heal. To avoid weakening the closure of these incisions it is typical to recommend that patients avoid adding additional stress. Doing so reduces the risk of incisional hernia formation.
