Stay off it: The talus is a very peculiar bone just under your ankle. It bears a lot of weight when you stand. It has a very tentative blood supply to it. If it is broken and you put weight on it, it is more likely that this bone will die rather than heal. You can have some serious lifelong problems if you don't follow your doctor's directions. Stay off of it.

Ankle fracture: If you have a broken talus, that is part of the ankle joint. Any broken bone needs time to mend with no stress on it. That is why a fracture is generally placed in a cast...To immobilize the bone until it is healed. Walking on it would cause movement around the fracture site which would cause problems with healing.
