Is a carpal tunnel a result of a work injury?

Depends: Carpal tunnel was thought to be due to repetitive motions, but research failed to prove this theory. There are many etiologies of carpal tunnel syndrome ranging from endocrine disorders to trauma. It also depends on what you do for a living.

Not definitely: According to the ninds: "there is little clinical data to prove whether repetitive and forceful movements of the hand and wrist during work or leisure activities can cause carpal tunnel syndrome." however, repetitive work is commonly believed to be associated with carpal tunnel syndrome.
