Distended rectum: The urge to defecate or have a bowel movement is a spinal cord reflex from distention of rectum from stool. This sensation can be ignored but further distention will result in another "reminder" until you evacuate, ignore it to point you can't hold it and have accident (leakage/soiling/incontinence/encopresis) or get impacted with hard stool.
