Skin care: Leg casts for femur fractures can develop pressure sores at the proximal and distal areas of the cast. Also if in a very young child, soiling of the padding can lead to eventual skin breakdown. Meticulous inspection of the cast margins a couple times of day to make sure there are not visible pressure points, redness or abrasions would be helpful. Cast modification/change may be needed.
