occipital neuritis : There is a nerve actually a pair of nerves which supply posterior aspect of the scalp or the occipital region. It is called the greater occipital nerve. When he gets irritated it causes pain in the region of its distribution. This irritation maybe caused by trauma, muscle spasm, cervical disc disease, or even something as as simple as having to wear a hard hat day in and day out.
