Urticaria : Nettle rash (also known as urticaria) is composed of reddish itchy weals or swellings in the skin similar to those resulting from contact with stinging nettle. Urtica is the latin word for nettle. The rash can vary in shape and size. It can be very itchy and usually goes away within 24 hours. Nettle rash may occur repeatedly or as a single episode.

Urtica dioida: The stinging nettle (urtica dioida) contains different chemicals depending on the subspecies, which can include: serotonin, histamine, formic acide, acetylcholine, moroidin ; leukotrienes. Small hair- like needles inject chemical into the skins which causes redness, swelling (wheels) intense pain ; possibly itching. It may take minutes to days to resolve.
