Yes: Rarely the nerve is injured during surgery. You need to get a second opinion from a hand surgeon.

Yes: It is quite rare but possible for a nerve injury to occur during carpal tunnel release surgery. It is also possible for the nerve to feel slightly hypersensitive in the immediate post operative period. I would seek a second opinion if you are concerned for a nerve injury.
