Maybe something else: Numbness, tingling and shooting pain in the hand or arm can be due to many conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome. The symptoms you describe could be coming from the neck, as in cervical radiculopathy. Unfortunately, these symptoms can be mis diagnosed as carpal tunnel syndrome, in which case symptoms may persist or recur after surgery. See a neurologist or hand specialist.

Strange: Carpal tunnel does not effect the arm but the wrist, palm, fingers and hand. Multiple levels of compression or incomplete release may be some of the reasons which are best evaluated by a physician with possible electromyelogram studies.
