What does the doctor look for in a ct of the sinuses to see if you need ear tubes?

Confusing question: A ct of the sinuses is used to confirm a sinus infection.Although kids who have sinus infections also tend to have ear infections, I have never heard of anyond deciding on tubes for any reason other than persistent middle ear infections.
