Will benadryl (diphenhydramine) help pink eye?

No: Pink eye is a viral infection and will not improve with benadryl (diphenhydramine). If you were suffering from itchy, red eyes due to allergies then Benadryl (diphenhydramine) could be effective.

No: Not if the cause is bacterial. If eyes are red from allergies, then it will help. Usually allergies or viral infection causes redness in both eyes, and pink eye is only or at least just starts in 1 eye.

NO: If there's some itching associated with the eye infection, Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may relieve that a bit, but it won't directly improve the underlying problem. Good luck.
