Renal stones: Renal stones are not normal (or else everyone would have one). A 1 cm renal stone should be treated. See a urologist for options. Eswl shockwave lithotripsy is the most common procedure.

Not usually : This size stone tends to increase in size with time increasing the risk that more invasive procedure may be required to manage the stone.
