Bursitis?: Hip pain that wakes you at night is classically bursitis, but you will need a physical exam to be sure. A steroid injection into your great troch bursa will help this if that is what it is. Nsaids may also benefit, but speak with your physician prior. Stretch your it band and your hamstrings to help. Location?: Hip can refer to back, groin, butt and lateral pelvis. Often related to bursitis. Evaluation by a knowledgeable rheumatologist or orthopedist will likely help.
