No direct effect.: There's no direct effect of cigarette smoking and alcohol drinking on diverticulitis or diverticulosis. But they're just not healthy in a general sense and should be avoided. Especially smoking - shouldn't smoke at all. A drink now and again wouldn't be harmful.
