That depends: It depends on what type of hysterectomy you are having, meaning open, vs laparoscopic, vs robotic, vs vaginal and what the reason for the hysterectomy is. Also whether the ovaries are being removed at the same time. You will have some pain after that will be treated with pain meds. I have my patients chew gum ( sugarless) after, as this has been shown to help bowels return to normal faster.
