Possibly: This depends on multiple factors. It can be a 'chicken and egg' scenario. Is it that the seizure caused the brain damage or the brain damage caused the seizure? But to specifically answer your q, yes, if a seizure is prolonged, or if the oxygen supply gets cut off, then brain damage can occur. That is why it is very important for people to take their seizure meds, to help prevent seizures.

Seizure: A seizure may already be due to an underlying brain condition. On the other hand uncontrolled seizure can cause brain damage as well.

Possibly: Usually short seizures do not cause any long term effects. However if a seizure is prolonged, especially if associated with hypoxia (a drop in oxygen in the blood) can possibly injure the brain. Your neurologist could help to answer your question.
