Yes, if adult: Assuming the Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is 25mg per capsule, it is ok to take 2 with plain Mucinex for relief of cold symptoms with thick mucus drainage for adults. Realize that Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may cause sedation and should not be used if the individual will be driving or operating machinery.

Yes: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) will help you sleep and help with excess mucus production. Mucinex (guaifenesin) is called an expectorant as it helps thin and loosen mucus to make your cough more effective at clearing the mucus from your lungs. There should be no problem taking these two medications together.

Not a good idea: You have to know Mucinex help thin the phlegm and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) has drying effect on mucous or phlegm, so you are defeating the purpose of taking musinex
if you need to take antihistamine with Mucinex for allergy, i will recommend takind over the counter Claritin which may not be as drying as benadryl, (diphenhydramine) and dont forget to drink lot of fluids.
