Can you drink when you have dry sockets?

Not Alcohol: You can drink (of course), but not alcohol when you have a dry socket. Alcohol dissolves blood clots and will prevent proper healing. If your dentist placed medicine into the socket as treatment, you also shouldn't have alcohol. In addition, caffeine and tobacco should also be avoided, as they have the same negative effects. For more info, ask your dentist or oral surgeon.

Yes: You should drink plenty of fluids, but avoid drinking through a straw, as the symptoms of the dry socket could be aggravated.
