Does crabmeat cause uric acid?

Yes: Crabmeat has purines which are metabolized to uric acid. However, diet has little effect on serum uric acid levels despite what some doctors on this site believe.

Uric acid : Crab meat has moderately high levels of purine both in fresh form and canned form. But the amount of purine is much higher in red meat as compared to crab meat . High levels of purine gets broken down to high levels of uric acid when consumed.
