Yes: Anemia can be sufficiently severe that it can cause an interruption of normal menses. The causes of various anemias can also be associated with a change in menses. Those causes include inflammation, chronic infection, iron deficiency folate (folic acid) deficiency etc. At 48 years old changes in menses may also be associated with menopause.
