Strabismus: Strabismus occurs when the eye are not aligned properly, so they do not work well together. In some people, this misalignment worsens over time. If it occurs only occasionally, no intervention is needed. If the misalignment worsens, double vision may result. This can be fixed with prism glasses. If special glasses don't work, surgery to straighten the eyes may be needed.

Lack of proper : treatment is the main reason, though strabismus can recur after corrective surgery on the the extra-ocular muscles. Childhood strabismus is variable. It can worsen with fatigue or illness. There can be " accommodative esotropia" when a 2-3 yr.-old with a refractive error (hyperopia) tries to "focus". Prescriptive lenses may help these tots. Take the child back to the pediatric ophthalmologist.
