Why would a stye return after popping?

Plugged gland: A stye is essentially a plugged oil gland. The stye may be 'popped' through the skin surface, but if the natural duct of the oil gland is still clogged, the stye will return.

Why not...: The lining of the stye is still there and produces the same problem.
