Bleeding gum: If you are still having bleeding around the treated tooth three weeks after treatment a return visit to your dentist is recommended. Material lodged under the gum or a fracture extending along the root into the bone and periodontal complex can also cause the continued symptoms.

It should not bve: Three weeks? If the root canal therapy was completed and the tooth restored it should not be bleeding. Have it evaluated immediately.

That's strange: Bleeding from the gums is not common after a root canal, especially 3 weeks after. It could be an unrelated problem, but you should definitely return to your dentist to have it evaluated. Most bleeding gum problems are due to an irritation in the area like plaque accumulation or a rough filling.

Open contacts: Bleeding from the "gums" is usually related to a local irritant. When root canal treatment is complete the permanent filling or crown needs to be placed. A larger than usual space may exist between the teeth until this is done. Food may pack into this space causing irritation and bleeding. When the needed filling is placed this space is closed and the teeth make contact. See your dentist -.
