Nerve: Could be a nerve impingement from swelling or muscle entrapping the nerve. Other causes could be fungal infection or vascular problems. Good luck.

Burning pain: Difficult to say. It may be cause by a pinched nerve, high blood sugar, a joint problem or some vascular compromise. I would recommend seeing your podiatrist.
