A member asked:

Why do people get pig styes on their eyes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Styes: Styes, or hordeolums, are localized bacterial infections of the eyelid skin. They cause the lid to be swollen, red and tender. Styes usually happen spontaneously and go away in 3-5 days. You can help them with using warm compresses over the affected area. Occasionally, oral antibiotics are prescribed if the infection is more severe.
