For some people: What gives people gas is highly idiosyncratic and depends on the individual. Also depends somewhat on whether red or white wine, and the amount of sulfites in the wine. Some people very predictably get increased gas after consuming any alcoholic beverage, while most do not. In some people it only occurs with drinking to excess. Beer more commonly does this, in part because of carbonation.
