A member asked:

Which muscle relaxant for twisted intestine?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

GI muscle meds: A twisted gut is a surgical situation and should always be considered an emergency that requires medical intervention, not pills. Muscle relaxants are generally used for skeletal muscle spasm and will not affect the smooth muscles in the gut. Anti cholinergics such as atropine, bentyl, (dicyclomine) or donna tol may slow the cramping sensation. Also CNS depressants relax both skeletal and smooth muscle.
