May be .: Lopressor (metoprolol tartrate) relatively selective b1 antagonist hence , has less effect on the bronchus . We are talking here in relativity .I suggest to talk to your doc about it . Good luck.

Maybe: Although both are betablockers, individual's response & side effects from each agent might be different. If your doctor believes that you should be on a betablocker then trying another agent would be the way to go. If you had shortness of breath without the medication which is worse with nadolol, you might need to be evaluated by pulmonologist.
