Progesterone: A womans body temperature is impacted by the hormone progesterone. So once a woman ovulates and starts making progesterone, this causes her temperature to go up on average 1/2 of a degree. Temp goes back to baseline when period starts. This is why women can do basal body temp to find out if/when ovulating.
