Is pantoprazole same as losec (omeprazole)?

Similar: They both are in the class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors which lowers stomach acid. Each drug has its own side effects and different profile, but their goals are the same.. to lower stomach acid. They operate differently than histamine blockers such as zantac (ranitidine) ( Ranitidine) and pepsid ( famotidine). They are also different than antacids such as Maalox, and Mylanta.
