You don't sleep.: Some people have sleep onset insomnia (they can't fall asleep). Some have sleep maintenance insomnia (they fall asleep, but can't stay asleep), and some have a combination of both. If you're not sure if you're awake at night, then you're probably sleeping and don't have insomnia. If you are not getting adequate rest when sleeping, you might have obstructive sleep apnea or some other problem.
