No: Coolsculpting is ideal for small areas of fat deposits. You can use it for debulking of larger areas on the abdomen, but it is generally accepted to only reduce the fat in the area by about 20% per treatment. It does not treat visceral (deep) fat, only the fat just under your skin.

Not for Obesity: Coolsculpting is not a treatment for obesity. It is more of a body shaping procedure and is ideal for those small bulges of fat that do not go away with diet or exercise.

Coolsculpting: Absolutely not. It is only for very conservative treatment of small area of localized fat that has resisted diet and exercise. This is not a weight loss measure.

Usually not.: There are some circumstances where a "morbidly" obese person (at least 100 lb overweight) will use CoolSculpting to minimize fat in a small, specific area. But you may be better served by weight loss or "bariatric" surgery - or a non-surgical approach to weight loss. Do talk with your physician about your options. You may have more options than you think! Good luck. LGromkoMD
