Be careful: If someone has active hepatitis b infection, they are at risk for liver cancer even if they do not have cirrhosis. Alcohol may increase the risk of developing liver cancer, cirrhosis, and liver failure. It is probably safest to eliminate alcohol (maybe a glass of wine on your birthday).
