Straw color: The effusion called para-pneumonic effusion is caused as a result of inflammation . It is usually clear and straw colored. If the infection spreads it is called empyema and the color becomes milky and turbid.

Colour of pleural fl: There is no fixed color. It can be straw colored, bloody, yellowish, greenish, grey -- all depends on the organism causing pneumonia.
