Can sickle thalassemia patients get married ?

Of course: Anyone can get married. Family planning however should occur in consultation with a hematologist and genetic counselor about the risks of having a child with an inheritable disease like sickle cell disease and thalassemia.

Absolutely! : The vows i took when i got married said "for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health". No illness should preclude finding love and embracing it. The implications that ones condition, such as sickle cell disease or a thalassemia syndrome has for the relationship is up to the partners. With regard to ch, ildren, your dr can refer you to specialists for appropriate counseling.

Yes: You need to be aware of the likely consequences if you marry someone with similar genetic mutations. It's a horrible thing to live with sickle cell disease or thal major. Get good genetic guidance if you are are considering starting a family together.
