Evaluation: Serious fall with pulmonary contusion and/or injury needs proper trauma evaluation. Depending on the findings, the individual may require a chest tube. The key to pulmonary injury care/treatment is pulmonary hygiene and appropriate analgesia with procedural interventions as needed to facilitate max lung re-expansion.

Chest tube: If the lung does not heal or there has been significant bleeding, then surgery may be done. Vats would be preferred.
