No!: The chemicals in visine embed into the matrix of the contact lens. Don't do it.

A 24-year-old member asked:
Does visine have long term consequences?
2 doctor answers • 9 doctors weighed in

Dr. Andrew Shatz answered
Ophthalmology 26 years experience
Yes: Visine temporarily blanches the blood vessels on the white of the eye by constricting them. The effect lasts about 15-30 minutes at first, but with prolonged use it wears off faster. People then have to use the drops more frequently. Overuse can irritate the eye, does not treat the actual cause of the redness, and if too much of the chemical is absorbed into the body it may raise blood pressure.

A 27-year-old female asked:
What is visine for contacts used for ?

Dr. Richard Bensinger answered
Ophthalmology 52 years experience
Tear replacement: Visine (blue label) can be used to supplement tear deficiency to allow contacts to be more comfortable. Do not use visine "gets the red out" as these can be more drying. There are many other possible tear replacement drops but discuss with your ophthalmologists if the lenses fit well and if that is the cause of your symptoms.

Yes: Just wait for five minutes after putting in the drops. It will be out of the tear film in that time. Please do not use visine allergy drops regularly. They are to be used for no more than 2 days at a time.
