To : To be on the safe side, you should take a pregnancy test. If you still aren't having a normal period in 2 days after that, take another test. You may need a blood pregnancy test as it is more accurate than a urine test. The biggest concern with spotting is that it can occur with pregnancy, but hormone fluctuations can also cause lighter periods or spotting.
If you have pain, vomiting, or light-headedness/fainting, then you would need to be seen as an emergency.
