It depends: This depends on the nature of your infection, and the experience of the practitioner. You may want a throat culture first to be sure it's not strep, which can have long-lasting sequelae. With a wise and skilled practitioner, homeopathy can be very powerful in acute care of sore throats. Some ayurvedic herbs can be useful also.

Avoid homeopathy: since it is completely ineffective. Some Ayurvedic treatments might have some clinical benefits, but the evidence is weak. There has also been little study on what harm Ayurvedic substances may cause. So, it's a bit of a shot in the dark. I highly recommend you see a traditional physician to address a throat infection.
