Go to ER: Tongue and throat swelling can be life threatening. It can be an allergic reaction. You never want to wait until it obstructs your airway to react. See immediate evaluation. Call 911 or go to closest emergency department.

Several poss causes: There are several possible causes for these symptoms, depending on duration and associated symptoms - fever, cough, swollen lymph nodes, diet, nausea/vomiting, heartburn, etc...
Causes include Infection (viral or bacterial - strep or candida), diet (B12 deficiency), GI - esophageal reflux, and allergic. See your clinician for examination and possible testing to determine actual cause.
