It can be: An important aspect of communicating with someone with as is that they are apt to take what is said quite literally, so speaking factually can be helpful. However, being told a "fact" may not be any more likely to sway their opinion about something than it does many who don't have as. What definitely doesn't work (for most of us, really), is lots of high emotion disguised as "fact.".
