GERD in pregnancy: Having heartburn in pregnancy is common. It is safe to take tums (calcium carbonate). Best thing is to avoid any foods that can make it worse - like cheese, chocolate, spicy foods etc. Also ask your doc when you see him/her next because there is medication that he/she can prescribe you if Tums (calcium carbonate) doesn't work.
